Why Water Over Fire
Aquamation is a water-based alternative to pet cremation also known as alkaline hydrolysis, that produces no harmful greenhouse gas emissions and burns no fossil fuels.
How does fire cremation pollute the environment?
National Geographic estimates that fire based cremations in the U.S. account for about 360,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. The average cremation emits 540 lbs of harmful greenhouse gas emissions which equates to the amount of CO2 produced by driving around Phoenix for 700 miles. Traditional fire based cremation facilities burn the pet in a plastic bag that will release even more harmful emissions into the earth.
On top of the CO2 produced by fire based cremation harmful chemicals are released including dioxins, arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, formaldehyde, mercury and nickel. By choosing water based cremation there are no fossil fuels burned and no harmful greenhouse gases emitted. Aquamation is the eco-friendly solution to handle your pet’s end of life in the Phoenix valley. Compared to traditional flame based cremation, aquamation reduces the carbon footprint by consuming less energy and producing no carbon dioxide honoring your pet and the earth.
